1. Operating Entity

This Privacy Policy applies to Mechanicrank.com, a service operated by Supercanic LLC, a California limited liability company. Supercanic LLC also operates Supercanic.com and PrePurchaseAuto.com. Personal information collected through any of these properties may be shared between them as described below.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Information you provide directly: Name, email address, phone number, business name, address, and other details you submit through claim forms, contact forms, or service requests.
• Information from claim submissions: Business descriptions, logos, photos, services offered, hours of operation, and other content you upload to claim or update a listing.
• Information from third parties: Publicly available business information (name, address, phone number, hours, ratings, reviews) compiled from public business directories, mapping services, and similar sources.
• Automated information: IP address (hashed for security purposes), browser type, device information, pages visited, referring URL, and timestamps. We do not currently use cookies for advertising purposes.
• Communication records: If you communicate with us by phone, SMS, or email, we may retain those records.

3. How We Use Information

• To operate and improve the Site and our services
• To respond to inquiries and process listing claims
• To send transactional notifications (claim approvals, dispatch confirmations)
• To send marketing communications (only to those who have consented or whose contact info was publicly published as a business contact — see SMS Communication Policy)
• To detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
• To comply with legal obligations

4. Sharing Information

We share information with:

• Affiliated brands: Mechanicrank, Supercanic, and PrePurchaseAuto are all operated by Supercanic LLC. Information collected through any of these brands may be used across all three.
• Service providers: Third parties who perform services on our behalf (hosting, email delivery, SMS delivery, payment processing, AI moderation). These providers are contractually limited to using information only for our purposes.
• Listed businesses (for dispatch jobs): If you submit a service request through the dispatch network, your name, contact information, vehicle information, and service details are shared with the dispatched mechanic to perform the job.
• Legal compliance: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:

• Access to the personal information we hold about you
• Correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion of your information (subject to legal exceptions)
• Opt-out of marketing communications
• Portability of information you provided

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@mechanicrank.com.

6. Business Listing Information

If your business is listed on Mechanicrank from public sources (for example, public Google Maps business profiles), you may request removal at any time by emailing privacy@mechanicrank.com. Note that removing your listing also removes you from any potential customer leads.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information as long as necessary to provide our services and meet legal obligations. Communication records are typically retained for 4 years. Hashed IP addresses associated with form submissions are retained for 1 year for fraud prevention.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted storage of sensitive credentials, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete the information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
