Why free? A mechanic who wants to learn the work should not have to get a card out to do it. The material is the point. Working in a shop that runs Shop Desk? Use the free certification for Shop Desk shops page and your code comes by email.
Grade earned reflects your exam score. Apprentice (75 to 79%), Grade C (80 to 84%), Grade B (85 to 89%), Grade A (90 to 94%), Master Mechanic (95 to 100%).

What does it cost?
Nothing. Every course, every exam, every retake and the certificate at the end are free. We do not ask for a card at any point.
Is this the same as ASE?
No. Mechanic Rank Certification is an independent credential from MechanicRank. It does not replace ASE, a state license, or EPA 609.
What if I fail?
Below 75% is a fail. Retake it right away, free, as many times as you like.
How long is a credential good for?
Five years. Recertify free when it runs out.
Where does the badge show?
On your claimed MechanicRank listing, on your public profile, and on a verify page tied to your cert ID. You can also put the badge on your own website.
How do you get certified to be a mechanic?
Many techs earn industry credentials by passing tests and showing work experience. You can also take the MechanicRank exam online. It has tracks by specialty, and your score sets your grade. Study material is free.
